Hi, I am Emily
Project manager. Parent. An expat living in London, United Kingdom.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually evolved into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United Kingdom wasn’t in the cards for the long haul. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more substantial.
The first months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Daily tasks seemed more challenging than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of learning on the fly. Gradually, routines took shape. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built MekJovCivKoren
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in United Kingdom.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Practical experience from living in United Kingdom
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn't:
- A tourism authority resource
- Sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in United Kingdom continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in London or anywhere in United Kingdom, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
Emily
